Corporate Social Responsibility

At Epicentr Group, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is not just an initiative—it is a cornerstone of our business philosophy. We believe in the power of business to drive positive social change, foster community resilience, and shape a sustainable future for all. From investing in small businesses to leading humanitarian aid and environmental sustainability projects, we are committed to making a tangible impact across Ukraine.

Standing with Communities During Times of Crisis

From the first days of the Russian invasion, Epicentr has been at the forefront of humanitarian support, delivering essential aid and resources to those affected. With a belief that businesses must play an active role in times of crisis, we allocated over 2 billion UAH to relief efforts. Approximately 4,000 of our employees joined the defense of Ukraine, embodying the spirit and values of Epicentr.

We established three humanitarian hubs, partnering with Kyiv city authorities to organize a large-scale relief effort for the Armed Forces, Territorial Defense, and civilians. Our facilities, logistics network, and workforce were mobilized to provide critical support. From March to July 2022, our humanitarian hub in Kyiv processed over 21 million kg of aid, reaching cities like Bucha, Irpin, and Chernihiv. In the western regions, we collaborated with Intersport Ukraine to supply clothing and equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and territorial defense units. In central Ukraine, we established a hub to shelter refugees from cities like Mariupol, Berdyansk, and Melitopol, offering a safe space and essential support.

Empowering local businesses for economic resilience

Epicentr believes in the power of entrepreneurship to drive economic recovery and prosperity. Through our program Millions of Good Deeds, we have provided crucial funding to over 21 local entrepreneurs, enabling them to launch or expand their businesses during these challenging times. More than 10 million UAH has been invested in diverse sectors, including furniture production, designer footwear manufacturing, snail farming, elite goat breeding, and more. By supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), we contribute to building a resilient economy and fostering innovation within our communities. We are proud to contribute to the growth of Ukrainian entrepreneurs, many of which have grown from SMEs to international suppliers.

Healthcare initiatives

Healthcare remains at the heart of our CSR strategy. In July 2022, we became the first Ukrainian company to support the First Lady’s UNITED24 fundraising initiative, donating over 203 million UAH to procure 76 fully equipped ambulances. These “mobile ICUs” are furnished with defibrillators, ECG monitors, infusion pumps, and portable ventilators, ensuring that medical professionals can stabilize and safely transport patients, even in the most critical conditions. This effort directly supports both emergency medical services and frontline combat medics, highlighting our commitment to saving lives and enhancing medical capabilities.

Creating safe spaces and supporting everyday needs

Understanding the challenges posed by wartime disruptions, including power outages and displacement, we launched the Sharing the Light initiative. Across our shopping centers nationwide, we established charging stations and opened the Unbreakable Hub in Kyiv—a free co-working space with over 500 workstations. This hub provides citizens with free Wi-Fi, power supply, and dedicated areas for students to continue their online education. In the face of adversity, we enabled people to maintain their daily routines, stay connected, and access essential services.

Furthermore, we have actively supported displaced individuals and children through partnerships with charitable organizations like Dreams of Ukraine’s Children, Children of Heroes, and I Am Mariupol, and others. By providing resources, safe spaces, and psychological support, we help build a sense of normalcy for those most affected by the war.

Championing sustainability and a greener future

Our vision extends beyond immediate humanitarian aid. Epicentr is committed to leading Ukraine’s transition to a greener economy through renewable energy projects, waste reduction initiatives, and eco-friendly practices. As the first retailer in Ukraine to install solar power stations on the roofs of our shopping centers, we are setting a precedent for responsible business operations. Our solar installations provide up to 30% of our centers’ energy needs, preventing the release of over 2 million tons of CO2 emissions annually.

In recognition of these efforts, Epicentr was honored by the UN Global Compact Network as the Winner of the “Partnership for Sustainable Development” award for building solar power stations during the war. This accolade highlights our resilience and commitment to sustainability, even in the most challenging times.

We continue to expand our network of electric vehicle charging stations, promoting the use of eco-friendly transportation. Additionally, our waste recycling programs, such as the “Battery Recycling” initiative, have successfully processed over 110 tons of batteries, safeguarding the environment and supporting global sustainability goals. Epicentr was the first company in Ukraine, initiating environmentally friendly battery recycling.
